Weekly Report - 2017-11-03 - Last Walk Before DST!

Dense fog made for an ominous trip into school this morning, but it didn't slow down the bird activity!

Today was the final walk before Daylight Savings Time so this will be the last dark morning with poor photography for quite some time (thankfully)! As the sun rose, the fog was beginning to lift from the area, but the bird activity was moving far faster than the fog. The morning's bird highlight included almost countless high flyovers of songbirds as they are finishing their nocturnal migration. American Robins were the dominant species in the flyover department this morning. In fact, the majority of the birds I heard today were flyover birds. I was surprised to hear a flyover Eastern Bluebird in addition to a decent number of Cedar Waxwings. Also, in the treeline along the playground fence and again at the gas line cut, I heard two Yellow-rumped Warblers chipping as they foraged in the treetops.

My most exciting wildlife observation this morning were two white-tailed deer! They were cautious of me as I observed them from the gas line cut, but not before I was able to snap a few photos and videos of them:
